Susie's Homestyle Cafe has reopened in Vermilion, Ohio at 4789 Liberty Avenue following damage from a kitchen fire and vandalism that closed the restaurant for three months. The cafe is open again 7 days a week, offering a wide variety of options for dine-in or carry-out.
“Lots of changes, and we are so excited to be back in business,” stated Susie Borso, restaurant owner. “We have missed all of you more than you know! There might be a few bumps, getting used to everything 'new', but we will have all of our delicious homemade food waiting for you!”
Susie’s Homestyle Cafe was broken into on March 10. Money was stolen, the front door was broken and the cash register and credit card machine were destroyed by degreaser being pored on them and the floor. On March 19, Susie’s Homestyle Cafe suffered a fire that completely destroyed the stove, exhaust hood, prep and commercial refrigerators, toaster, microwave, and all of the food. Additional damage was caused to the walls, floors and ceilings. A GoFundMe fundraiser helped to raise some money for repairs not covered by insurance.
