Vermilion's own City Council President Steve Herron has been appointed by Governor DeWine to the Ohio Parole Board. Herron is currently the assistant state public defender for the Ohio Public Defender Commission, as well as Vermilion City Council president.
“This impressive honor is further proof that the residents of Vermilion benefit from exceptional leadership guiding their City Council,” stated Mayor Forthofer. “Congratulations, Steve Herron! Well deserved.”
Prisons Director, Annette Chambers-Smith, made three board appointments on Wednesday, each for six-year terms. In addition to Herron, Glenn Holmes of Girard, and Lisa Hoying of Lewisburg, were also appointed.
The governor also announced several measures to make full board hearings more open to the public and potential parolees.
